Home Hunting in Cinco Ranch

In the beginning of our house hunting, WE REALLY wanted a pool. We NEEDED one, or so we thought, to relieve our from the scorching heat. Recently, we changed our minds. All of the residential pools here are in ground requiring a secured backdoor and fence gate. Backdoor, locked? Check. Fence gate, locked? Check. The thought of a terrible tragedy, happening to our child or a neighbors, was too much.

Once our move was complete, we gave ourselves one month to get settled as much as we could. At that point, I wanted to hit the ground running looking for a home. I have discovered that the more we looked the more specifications we’d add to our list. We have not asked for much:

No pool…but with in walking distance to an area pool and pond (the latter for our most boisterous family member, David. Oops, I meant for Marshall, our canine friend).

An open floor plan...so I could watch and interact with Kathryn while she played and worked in the kitchen. (I had stand firm on this one, even with myself, because I really liked so many that didn't have this to offer.

On a cul-de-sac street…(one that was important to me, having grown up on one and lived with out after marriage, I learned street traffic bothers me so much that it increases my stress level, numerous times a day I look out the window scolding motorists for their wrongful doings).

Enough square footage to accommodate a growing family (No, I don’t have any news. We only wanted to move once).

In a well established neighborhood (mature trees add character and good shade).

Exemplary schools (even though Kathryn may not attend school here).

Sidewalks (many neighborhoods we looked at don't have them.)

We found many houses that we liked but not the one we wanted to call home. Then, David happened to come across a real estate listing a few weeks ago that he liked very well. Unfortunately, the house was listed as “Pending Continue to Show” and we were told that the buyers looked very promising and that they were only a few days away from closing the deal. We were crushed but also knowing very well that maybe that just wasn’t the right place for us. So, back to the drawing board I went; sitting at my laptop for several hours each day hoping that another could be a home for us.

Our realtor called me Thursday to tell me excellent news...the deal fell through and the realtor was going to re-list it; making it “Active!” Whoa, yes! Extreme elation! Now, at least we could walk through it and decide for ourselves. I never wish (well, it's not like I practice with voodoo dolls or anything) any ill will on anyone, but I do have to admit that I was getting a little desperate. I wasn’t hoping for death or financial trouble to befall the buyer's of this house (that we liked sooooo well), just maybe a large viral stomach bug that incapacitated and quarantined them for a few weeks days. That wasn't me infecting their outside doorknobs, honest.

Well, the big day to see this house came Saturday and as the time grew closer to 3p.m. my anticipation grew. I was sooo nervous, as if the house itself was going to pass judgment on us and view us as unfit potential homeowners. We walked through it, and instantly David and I both liked it. We could certainly make this house our home! We liked it so well that before leaving and heading over to the next showing (because we had a couple revisits to make) David and I decided that this house was the right fit for our growing family. (No, still no new news.)

Sunday, we went back to have a second look at the house we'd like to call home. That evening we sat down with the realtor and signed lots and lots of papers. Sigh.

As of now, that’s where it stands. sigh. We anxiously await a phone call from our realtor. I wish I could share more with you, like a picture, but I don't want to jinx us.

As for the previous buyer's, I hope they're feeling better. Ha.

Thanks so much for visiting and remember to ALWAYS enjoy your own life's wild ride!
