ALERT: Get your carseats checked!

With every trip to my parent's home I see this billboard! Absolutely shocking that 75% of children are sitting in improperly installed carseats! I make a plea to all parents and caregivers: Please, get those car seats checked! I had ours checked before the birth of our daughter at the local fire department. They didn't charge a fee for the check but we did make a nominal donation.

We all love our children, but with one car ride a child could be the statistic that carseats are meant to prevent them from becoming. According to http://www.car-safety.org/ motor vehicle crashes are the #1 cause of death for children and adults, age groups 1 to 34. Selecting a safe vehicle and properly using child restraints and seatbelts may be the most important things you can do to protect your family.

If getting a carseat checked saves a life or prevents serious injuries then it will have been well worth it! And now that I am a smarter mom, the only carseat that our daughter sits in will be one that I have installed myself!
