On our first weekend together, here in Houston, we decided to check out the Kemah Boardwalk in Kemah, Texas!
Boardwalk shops and games to play! Those are hundreds, maybe thousands, of catfish gathered waiting for their next meal! "Where's my fishin' pole?"
Looking out to Galveston Bay! Kemah, Tx is about 25 miles north of Galveston.
This is where Kathryn and I spent some time while David purchased tickets for the rides. It's a "cool zone" and sprays a fine mist of cool water to cool off those hot tomales! They must think it's as HOT here as I think it is! Whew-eee, it maxed out at 98 today!
I realized today that I am my mother! I road the ferris wheel or century wheel as Kemah calls it! I remember regretting it as soon as I entered the car, but what I probably regretted more is that we took Kathryn for a ride on it! All she wanted to do was get up and walk around sending me into a natural frenzy about heights! My mother's voice playing over in my head, just like the day when my father and I stood on the side of a cliff somewhere and she cautioned us because there weren't any railings. David tried getting me to hold her, while on that frightful thing, to which I exclaimed that I just couldn't do that. I was too panic stricken! I did manage to take a picture while on the ferris wheel but that was only to keep my mind off of my fear. It was challenging enough to keep myself together. Once we were on stable ground again, Kathryn enjoyed the carousel from which David always has to practically pry her off of!
Lunch at The Aquarium, "an underwater dining adventure", was very nice place to eat! Great food, "Mmmm!" and a great atmoshere! Just look at our fellow diners in the restaurant! I enjoyed a cajun shrimp, rice and veggie meal, but I am slowly learning that they add guacamole to just about anything down here! So, from now on "86 that guac, please!"
Oh boy I don't even like being as tall as I am, and you know I'm short ;-) Sounds like there is so much to do in TX. See you there in Feb maybe, will it be cool then? HAHA
ReplyDeleteTOTALLY FUN!!! But really?? The ferris wheel is scary? I absolutely LOVE it...now roller coasters, I would skip, pass, run away from any day. :)
