Hello, Houston, Texas!

After a grueling flight, with a layover, Kathryn and I finally arrived in Houston, Tx! (I chose a layover flight because it was much easier last time to change her diaper in the terminal restroom than on the plane because they are only made to accomodate a small infant. Not to mention, I am always armed with my disinfectant wipes and that's much easier tackled with out holding a wiggling toddler.) I thought a layover would make my job easier, but I was only kidding myself!

I would normally take pictures of her on the plane but as you'll read, fortunately, there are none! This is how it ALL played out...

We boarded the plane from Cleveland, Ohio to Atlanta, Georgia okay. Once on the plane, she instantly became a different child with temper tantrums, crying fits, and my repeated attempts to console her were failing! I saved her lunch for the ride, thinking that it would occupy her, and she ate very little milk or cheese. I managed to get her to pick at her veggies, but once she decided she didn't want them any more, she flung the bowl covering the gentleman next to us in peas, cauliflower, and blueberries! Luckily, he was a good sport, and the disturbance that we made wasn't enough to get us thrown off the plane or restrained in straight jackets! But, my WORST fear had come TRUE! I was, now, the dreaded woman aboard the plane with a child that no one wanted to sit next to! She, also, refused ALL the toys I packed for her! Finally, I did convince her to watch a Barney video on the portable DVD player!

After departing from the plane, we had to walk downstairs to the tarmac. I was eager to make a quick exit from the tarmat, but first, I had to grab the stroller before we could hightail it out of there. My goal was to leave the other passengers with no memory as to what we looked like, considering some of them might be on our flight to Houston, Tx. That was a thought, thought too soon! As I approached the terminal, I realized we had to now go upstairs! Myself, one distressed toddler, an overstuffed diaper bag, an umbrella stroller, and two flights of stairs! Like a Godsend, an airport employee offered his assistance. "Thank you, God!"

One flight down, one to go! Surely, the next one will be better! "Please, God stay with us!"

After our restroom stop was completed and I picked up a snack for myself, we headed for the next plane. Immediately upon boarding, I wondered what happened to MY child again! Temper tantrums, crying, and incosolable ALL OVER AGAIN! We did, however; have an empty seat next to us. That seat became Kathryn entertainment for the next 90 minutes! Up, down, sit on the floor (yuk!), sit on the seat! Constantly repeating, over and over and over! Then there was the woman across the aisle who had to comment that she had been up since 5 a.m. and all she wanted was to sleep. I figured, not ever having had kids before left her with out compassion!

This time we were able to hightail it out of there, and I concluded God must not like to fly because the second was just as dreadful as the first!

Up until these flights, Kathryn has been an absolute joy on an airplane! Historically, she has played, laughed, ate her food and socialized with other passengers! I really can't comprehend what happened with our daughter!

We met up with David at baggage claim and and headed to Barnaby's Cafe for dinner! Wow, get a load of ALL those people there to greet us! Okay, this was actually take at 5:42, but regardless it can still get pretty busy midmorning or midafternoon! Now, that's a lot of Astros!

And, that concludes our first day as a family living in Houston, Texas!

Thanks so much for visiting and remember to ALWAYS enjoy your own life's wild ride!
